Every year hundreds of law enforcement officers are killed in the line of duty. The month of May has been set aside nationally and by state and local officials as a time to recognize these officers and to offer our thanks for the tough job they perform every day.
Here in Allen County, the third Wednesday in May is recognized as "Law Enforcement Memorial Day" with a special noontime ceremony at the Police Memorial in front of the FOP Lodge Hall on Robb Avenue in Lima. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this moving ceremony.
